The Bards, Don and The Goodtimes, The Frantics, Jimi Hendrix, The Kingsmen, Merrilee and the Turnabouts, Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Sonics, The Ventures, The Viceroys and The Wailers. These are just a few of the local, Northwest artists that have helped to develop what was the first legendary "Northwest rock and roll explosion," and achieved various degrees of national success throughout the late 1950's and early 1960's.  From Portland and Boise, to Tacoma, Seattle and even Vancouver, BC, these groups and countless others, helped shape the face of rock and roll and put the Northwest on the musical map.
